Criteria for selection of winners
As you know this year’s competition is to prepare ‘a traditional dish from your locality using locally available ingredients’ – choose a dish that is traditional from where you stay or belong and also you can prepare and present it well.
Unlike the previous years, this year we would like to share, with you the judging criteria or parameters so that you can select and prepare the best and the very popular as well as traditional dish and share the video with recipe. Knowing the parameters in advance will help you to try to score better marks as well. Hence all the best for all of you.
The deciding criteria are as follows:-
Total marks will be 100, which are divided into 6 types of criteria or parameters. If we look at it in more detail, Criteria 1 to 5 will have 15 marks each i.e. a total of 75 marks and Criteria 6 will have 25 marks; if we add all the 6 criteria then the total will be 100 marks.
What are these six criteria?
- Authenticity of the dish:- How original and traditional the dish is.
- Use of ingredients:– What all the ingredients you are using, is there any ingredient or ingredients which are available only in your country, state, province or locality. No wastage or excess use of ingredients.
- Presentation:- How the dish should be traditionally presented like in a special dish or vessel like a Hundi for Dum Biryani, Paella for Spanish paella dishes, Tagine for Morocco dish, or wrapped in a banana leaf, turmeric leaf or vine leaf or served on a banana leaf etc or with a particular accompaniment or side dishes to go along with it. (The side dishes or accompaniments can be already prepared and kept and the preparation of the same need not be shared in the video as these are not judged or assessed)
- Quantity:- As food should not be wasted as far as possible prepare only 2 portions and serve or present only one portion of the dish. If you have to present the entire dish, as individual portions cannot be served, you can do so. Maximum 4 portions could be prepared if that is the minimum quantity in which the dish could be prepared and presented.
- Difficulty and Skills: Difficulty and the level of skill required in preparing the dish. If there is any particular skill required in shaping, folding, cutting, cooking or other similar skills etc.
- Dish Info:- The most important is explaining the dish about its importance, history if any, significance or other factors and WHY you have selected this particular dish for the competition.
The winners of the Jury Awards will be selected based on the sum of the marks obtained in these six criteria.
I hope we have made it very clear about the judging criteria. If you still feel you need more information or something is unclear, feel free to contact us, and we will be happy to clear them up.
